Get Up & Go Green Shake
Who would think that spinach would work well in a smoothie? I came up with this dairy-free milk shake in an effort to move my children away from store-bought yogurts that contain so much sugar. Most commercial yoghurts contain as much as 30 per cent sugar. You will have no problem encouraging kids to take good bacteria and essential fats for breakfast with this yummy drink. Whisk it up in no time – in fact, it’s faster than either cereal or toast to put together. Good bacteria are a healthy addition to shakes, and are a great way to add good fats to your diet. Udo’s oil can be used in smoothies – it is a rich source of good fats and is wonderful for your skin and hair. A lack of essential fats can also lead to cravings as the body needs a regular supply of good fats from foods in order to thrive. What you need
  • 1 banana
  • 125 ml coconut milk
  • Small handful spinach leaves
  • 1 tsp Udo’s oil or ½ tsp chia seeds (soaked)
  • Ice, to serve
What you do
  • Blend all ingredients together until smooth.
  • Pour over some ice and you’re ready to go.
