Couleur Caramel Makeup Review
3As you may have seen on my Facebook or Instagram pages last week I visited the lovely Dearbhla in the V Clair salon in Harolds Cross, Dublin before I headed off to the Blog Awards to get my makeup done and try out the lovely French natural makeup range " Couleur Caramel". I had met Dearbhla previously at an event and after hearing about the range I was keen to give it a try. Not only is the brand safe and natural it has a fantastic ethos to boot. Couleur Caramel is a French range of natural organic makeup range that is now available in salons across Ireland. What made me really want to try the range was that I heard that they use this as the official makeup for Strictly Come Dancing in France, with all the heat from dancing and the studio lights etc I knew it would have to be of exceptional quality in order to withstand such conditions. [caption id="attachment_370" align="aligncenter" width="500"]4 Some of the stunning colours available[/caption] I explained to Dearbhla on arrival that I am not one to wear heavy makeup and like to keep eyeshadows and lipsticks as neutral as possible, she showed me various colours she thought would suit my hair colour and skin tone some of which I would have never chosen myself but I left it in the hands of the professional. It is anti-age, protective, regenerative and gives an iridescence and a lovely glow. My makeup is just gliding on and is lasting a lot longer throughout the day. 118316
As I have an uneven complexion with redness on my cheeks Dearbhla used a green coloured Anti-Redness Concealer in n°16. I have seen green concealer before but never knew how to apply it so it was great to be able to see how it is used, it really counteracted the areas of redness. Dearbhla followed on with a regular concealer to cover up any other blemishes, Cream Concealer n°07. Next, Compact Foundation n°13 was applied which gives a full coverage and was really long lasting. Although it was a full coverage it felt comfortable and light on my skin, I hate when I feel caked in makeup as I feel my skin can't breathe but with lovely ingredients such as Organic Olive Extract, Fairtrade Baobab, Organic Shea Butter this makeup felt so light and luxurious I didn't even notice it on my skin. I am not a fan of powders,  my daughters are always at me that I need them to set my makeup but I find that they get into the wrinkles in my 61-year-old skin and define them more. When I explained this to Dearbhla she assured me that their compact would offer a great coverage without showing up any lines as it was not a mineral powder and would only be applied lightly. She used  Compact Powder n°02 in colour and I didn't notice the dreaded "powder effect" I usually avoid and it definitely made a difference to how long my makeup lasted. Dearbhla finished off the face with Bronzer n°21 and Blusher n°51 which gave me a nice healthy glow.

For the eyes, the following products were used;

  • Brow Pencil n°122 – define brows
  • Eyeliner n°118 – Smudged onto upper and lower lid.
  • Eyeshadow n°103 – A champagne colour for softness and to blend with the liner.
  • Mascara n°01

These colours were perfect for the natural look I was going for but you can choose from a huge range if you would prefer a smoky eye or more dramatic look for example and the shadows can even be bought in a handy palette ( that will be on my Christmas list this year). Dearbhla defined my lips with a Pencil,  n°11 and then applied a coral lipstick (n°260)  that I panicked when I saw at first. It looks bright orange but when applied it worked well with the natural colour of my lips and wasn't as loud as it looked in the tube.

This look was specific for my night out, as I had tan on and wanted it to match up, but with such a range to choose from I found some great products for day wear! It is great to find a good organic makeup range in Ireland and even better that I know I can get it applied by a professional in a salon for any special occasions. The makeup is available in selected beauticians and you can also purchase it online.

Let me know if you give it a try :)
